Appearance
Runia is a member of the Draconian race. She has pink and cream scales, light bubblegum pink hair styled in rag curls, heavy-lidded orange and yellow eyes, finned ears, and lower and upper fangs. She has a flat, broad nose, and slitted eyed. Her appearance resembles nothing so much as a humanoid snake. Her scales are extremely hard and she seems to be impervious to physical damage. She has clawed hands and feet, but her claws do not prevent her from wearing shoes. (They do look weird, but she makes it work.)
Like a snake, Runia's fangs are retractable and secrete a potent poison. Instead of teeth, she has rock-solid hard gums. Though her gums are not able to pierce flesh on their own, she can snap them shut in the blink of an eye, pulverizing anything caught between. It is the force of her jaw rather than the sharpness of her teeth that provides her the ability to rend flesh. She has a long forked tongue. She can also unhinge her jaw and open her mouth very wide (though not to the degree some snakes can).
Runia's gums serve a second purpose: she can snap them together with enough force to generate heat and immolate the poison in her jaw glands. This makes her able to breathe fire by spitting her poison while sparking her gums. Unlike some other kinds of dragons, the flammable liquid she sprays can stay alight for long periods. Not only can she ignite flammable objects, she can also spray fire that continues to burn even if it lands on a nonflammable surface.
As Runia is not a mammal, she does have mammary glands, meaning she is flat-chested. She also does not have skin or eyelashes. It's thought that her hair might be a wig, but as she has never been seen without it, this is unconfirmed. There are also reports that she has a tail and wings, but these rumors are also unconfirmed. (It's been suggested that Runia herself has spread these stories to cause people to associate her with dragons in their minds.)
Runia's favorite colors are pink and red. She is fond of kimono. She has an outfit gallery available here.

Personality
Runia is like a poisonous orchid: exceptionally beautiful, but deadly dangerous.
Cheerful and chipper, it's easy to forget that she has very sharp claws and a bite that can rend the head off a deer in one go. She is frequently underestimated by people who judge her based on her saccharine, bubblegum-like appearance and behavior. This doesn't bother Runia in the slightest, because she cares very little what others think. She's too busy doing her own thing!
Runia is fascinated by humans: their habits, thoughts, and behaviors. She considers herself a student of human psychology, but rather than learn about what humans think about their own psychology, she approaches the subject as a draconian scholar and her writings are entirely the analysis of an outsider. She especially loves the dual predator/prey aspect of humans, and how easily they turn on members of their own species.
Runia takes a hands-on approach to research. She doesn't believe in observing from afar, instead choosing to interact with her subjects. She likes to experience human cultures firsthand and engages with people as much as possible. She's always on the lookout to try new human things, be they activities, foods, or belief systems.
Like most dragons, Runia loves fire, and she thinks cuddling up next to Paxton's warm body is especially nice. She loves it when he gets angry or frustrated! It delights her to no end. She finds Paxton and his rage the most entertaining of all the humans, which is why she chose him for her research project and mate.
Runia is carnivorous, a hunter by nature, but she is capable of suppressing her appetite for long periods and can go months and even years without eating before she becomes lethargic from hunger. When she does hunt, she prefers large herbivorous mammals, as other carnivores are too stringy for her tastes. Deer, moose, elk, even horses are considered fair game in northern climes, but her favored place to hunt is the savannah, where she can gorge on buffalo, oxen, zebra, hippopotamus, and elephant. Because she understands that humans value horses and elephants (and especially because elephants are endangered), she avoids eating them. (But she totally eats them on the world she comes from, where neither animal is in short supply.)
Being of another species, Runia's actions and motivations sometimes don't make sense to others, but they make sense to her. In general, she reacts to all things human with excitement and interest, and she has shown herself to be patient and practical. No one has ever seen her angry, and it's probably better that way. The only thing people have seen from her to indicate she might have another side is her disappointment, which is profound.
Besides Paxton, Runia loves fish, animated movies (particularly classic 2d Disney titles), the ocean, and painting. She also can sleep or stay awake for weeks on end, and does so when it strikes her fancy.
